Central Yorkton
Neighbourhood Guide
Directly South and directly North of the bustling main street in Yorkton, Broadway Street, is the neighbourhood of Central Yorkton. One of the early neighbourhoods to develop, this neighbourhood has a majority of older homes. Homeowners in this area have done a wonderful job of upgrading their spaces to accommodate the modern lifestyle, but retain the unique architecture and charm of the past. Of course, one of the best features of living in this area is the fact that you can walk to work, downtown shopping, doctor's clinics, restaurants, spas...you name it! Living by the main drag instead of on it means that traffic is a lot lower, too.
Parks
- City Centre Park
Located at the very heart of the city, this park features many benches and a small, concrete stage for community gatherings. It's a popular spot for fundraising BBQs, protests, and events for kids.
- Tupper Park
This park lies along Tupper Avenue. It features an open green space and a playground.
- Skateboard Park
Yorkton's skate park is located South of Broadway Street, on Brodie Avenue. The avenue is long enough for vehicle parking, and that's it. The concrete area features ramps, rails, benches, stair cases, hubba ledges, boxes and a bowl feature. It's lit from dusk until 10:30pm during the summer months. There are, of course, safety rules !
Pathways
Brodie Pathway extends from Broadway Street at Brodie Avenue, all the way to Patrick Park (located in South Yorkton). It connects with the Winchester Pathway, which leads to Rodney Ridge. Brodie Pathway is 1.03 Kilometers long.
